The Benefits of the Master Cleanse Lemonade Detox Diet

The master cleanse diet, a specialized type of “fasting” detox diet, was originally developed and perfected by Stanely Burroughs.  The intent of the diet is to aid the body in complete detoxification and relieve the body of environmental stressors which can, over time, cause the body harm, malfunction and disease.  The master cleanse lemonade diet aka the master cleanser, lemon cleanse, lemonade diet or just simply master cleanse diet, is comprised of drinking a mixture of water, fresh squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper.  Although this may not sound like the most appetizing drink concoction, many find it to be quite refreshing.  Every ingredient within the master cleanse is created to serve a specific purpose.

The master cleanse lemonade diet has been the object of much discussion in celebrity magazines, health forums and many other publications accross the world.  It has been in the target of skepticism and has been argued whether or not the diet has any true benefits or simply just snake oil.  The master cleanse diet, however, has been completed by thousands of people and a very large percentage of those believe it works to improve their health and well being in many different ways.  It is ultimately up to you to decide whether the claims of the master cleanse diet are a scam or completely legit, as well as it is your decision whether or not to complete the master cleanse diet.  One thing is for certain though, if you do decide to go through the master cleanse diet, make sure to do it exactly to a “T” and do not waiver from what the diet calls for.  Just like any diet, it is important to follow it exactly as instructed to get the most benefits, lose the most weight, detoxify properly and to avoid any harmful or negative side-effects.  If anything is worth doing, its worth doing right, right?

Below are the commonly described benefits of the Master Cleanse Diet:

1.  Significant weight loss – Many have described losing large amounts of weight and getting extremely lean.  Many lose between 10-40 lbs. in a very short duration of time.  Although weightloss isn’t the main focus of the detox cleanse, it is definitely a perk of it.

2.  Total body detoxification – The primary goal of the master cleanse diet is to detoxify the body of years and years of pent up waste that the body wouldn’t normally be able to be rid of.  The idea behind this is that our bodies were never meant to be accustomed to the everyday pollutants that we are constantly subjected to.  From food additives, preservatives, hormone treatments, artifical flavors and colors, environmental pollutants combined with the bodily stress of the everyday 9-5 lifestyle, it is believed that we can no longer detoxify properly when living in this type of environment.  The master cleanse lemonade diet is designed to give your body a break and thoroughly flush the body including harmful heavy metals that stick to the inner lining of the colon and intestines.  These toxins, over time can cause allergies, disease, cancer, chronic fatigue and other chronic disorders that we may not even realize we have… because we have had to live with it for so long.

3.  Hormone regulation – Many people experience hormone regulation.  Many of the foods we eat contain large amounts of hormones which can lead to a multitude of problems from unusual facial hair growth in women, lowered libido, and even pregnancy problems.  Hormones greatly affect the way to function and how our organs work.  The master cleanse is believed to cleanse the body of these excess hormones and allow our body to produce the right amounts on its own.

4.  More energy – Many people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrowm (CFS) have used the master cleanse diet to help energize and revitalize their bodies.

5.  Allergy identification – When the body is no longer introduced to the foods that cause an allergic reaction, we are then able to slowly introduce foods and know whether or not they produce an allergic reaction.  After the detox cleanse is over, your body will be as pure as it has ever been and you will be extremely sensitive to what it needs and definitely to what it doesn’t need.  This can help you adjust your diet to eat only foods that are right for your body system.

6.  Mental clarity – Going through the master cleanse, many people find that they can think clearer.  In addition, they may regain some lost will power that they didn’t realize they could even have.  For thousands of years, people have used fasting as a way to spiritual enlightenment and mental clarity, the master cleanse could provide some of these benefits.

7.  Ability to further fight addictions – From food addictions, tabacco, alcohol and drug addictions.  The master cleanse is believed to aid in detoxifying the body, calming the system, creating willpower and aid in the proccess of fighting addiction.  In fact, many people do not realize that they eat simply because they are bored.  Plus, many also do not realize that they crave foods that are bad for them simply because they are addicted to what is inside the food.

The benefits described below are those that people who have undergone the master cleanse lemonade diet have claimed.  Every individuals experience is a little different from the next.  It is ultimately up to you to decide the legitimacy of these claims and whether or not the master cleanse diet is appropriate for your health needs.  Again, I would like to make a point of how important it is to complete the cleanse properly.  At the bottom of this article are links to resources that can help you get the guided information that you need to complete the cleanse correctly, while gaining the most benefits and minimizing any negative side-effects you may have.

becoming "the man"...

It has long been a dream of mine to own my own quilt shop.  Up to now that is all I could say that it was…a dream.  As of last night I started taking baby steps toward that dream of becoming “the man” instead of working for “the man”.  I am now the proud owner of my own online shop www.sewnlovequilts.comand it feels great!  It will cost me about $10 a month to run the site.  There is so much to learn – since I don’t know shit about running a web site!  There is a whole lot about setting up shipping methods and payment options and ssl certificates?  Anywho, I just wanted to announce the launch of my store and I might add a web page to it for some info about me (and maybe put some advertisements up) and the business start.  So, this is an exciting new step for me and Jo moving forward   It may be my stay at home mom ticket!

In ttc news – CD 19 still on “high alert” but no peak yet.

In weight loss news – I am down to 185.4!  Not the nice 170’s like on my other scale or “the good one” I like to call it.  The digital is brutal and moves slower…humpfh.  So a lb. a week it my steady rate right now – sure would love to have a big week and lose 2 or 3!  Anywho, that’s it for now kids – I will post when the web site it up and running – right now it’s just under construction.

Tuesday Truths: Scaling Back Our Scale Time

I was drying my hair in my mom’s bathroom this morning, and found myself staring at the scale she had in her bathroom.  Since today is Tuesday, it got me thinking about that love-hate relationship we all have with that little machine in our bathrooms.

When I was in college and struggling with an eating disorder, I remember the nurses and doctors would make me stand on the scale backwards so I could not see the number.  I would try to take a peek at my chart to see if I could see what number they had recorded, but they were always very sneaky about hiding it from me.

When I think about it, what would it have mattered if I saw the number?  I wouldn’t have been happy either way.  Any number would have been “too high” in my opinion.

Isn’t that still the case?  I’ve read that you should weigh yourself at the same time of day every day.  In order to not become obsessed with the number, I weigh myself every Monday before I get in the shower for work.  And as I continue to see the numbers move between the same 5 digits, I have to wonder the value of going through this ritual.

There are all sorts of articles regarding the accuracy of digital scales.  While I think it’s important to know your “number” on average, I like the commercials that tell you to measure your progress by seeing how your clothes fit.  After all, health is not just a number:  it’s a lifestyle!  You can weight 120 pounds and be healthy, but you can also weigh 120 pounds and not be able to complete a 5 mile brisk walk.  Let’s make sure we’re focused more on how we feel than on what the scale says!  I just hope I can remember this today when I try on my wedding dress for the first time since I ordered it!!

How do you make sure you’re looking beyond the number?

Sunday Weigh-In (10-04-2009)

Well today I weighed in and was down 1.8 lbs (Thank God). I was worried that I might flatline like I did the previous week.

Altogether I’ve gone from a starting weight of 281.2 … down to 263. That’s 18 pounds in 7 weeks (I’ve lost 6.5% of my body weight). Not bad at all.

I’m no Tim, however, who has managed to drop 26 pounds in the same time period (12% of his body weight), which is incredible.

But I’m not unhappy with my weight loss rate.

My next goal: Consistency. I’ve been having a pattern of weight loss, flatline, weight loss, flatline, etc. This is the week where I will break that pattern.

Fat Burning Supplements: Are they safe?

Fat burning supplements are flooded in the market promising easy weight loss. Do you think these supplements really work like wonders or there is a downside to these magic pills? Anyone who is willing to experiment with these magic pills, I would advise them to first take a close look at what the product is all about.

What are fat blockers?

Fat blockers are fat burning supplements used to get rid of the body fat. These supplements are made from a shellfish called chitosan. It enters the body and binds to the fat in the food you have ingested and keeps it from being absorbed by the body. There are two drawbacks to this method – first, the fat blockers also inhibits the body from absorbing essential nutrients. Second, that bound fats also need to leave the body, which remain in the body and often cause stomach pain, and diarrhea, etc.

What are appetite suppressors?

Another form of weight loss suppressor is called appetite suppressor. Body appetite is suppressed by altering the body chemicals and hormones. Supplements used to take away general hunger are called noradrenergic drugs. Negative side effects of these supplements vary from nervous feeling to heart attack.

Active Metabolism:

Increasing the body metabolism has long been used a method of weight loss. The most common drug used for this purpose is caffeine. When caffeine enters the body and the blood, it releases the hormone that quickens the body metabolism. Overuse of metabolism stimulants can have negative side effects and often reverse the metabolic rate.

Are Supplements Safe?

Well, companies who sell these supplements often claim that these drugs are safe when taken in small quantities and work wonders at the same time. But since these drugs interfere with body’ s natural physiological processes – the side effects are obvious that range from small effects to fatal effects.

Those who have any hormonal or heart problems – they should always avoid taking supplements. However, for others, its their personal choice but one needs to consult with a doctor before taking it.

water, water everywhere & not a drop to drink

We don’t drink enough water.

Period.

Notice I’m lumping myself in with everyone else. I’ve never been a huge fan of water. I mean, my philosophy was why drink something so dull and boring when there’s so many other options? Stupid me.

Even if we’re drinking enough fluids, chances are, we’re still walking around dehydrated or teetering on dehydration. Did you know the famous “8 glasses a day” recommendation likely isn’t enough, either?

Every day I hear of people talking about headaches or fatigue or lack of energy — and then they down something caffeinated to “wake themselves up.” Nine times out of ten, they’re not drinking nearly enough water, which would take care of those problems in a heartbeat. I know some people who even practically brag about the fact they hate drinking water.

I’m still not drinking the gallon of water per day that I need to be downing, but I’m almost there, and I feel great. I haven’t had any problems with caffeine withdrawals, and I haven’t had to contend with a single temptation to drink a Dr Pepper, my former greatest vice. I’m thisclose to the point where I will crave water.

I invested in a Brita pitcher and I keep my 28-ounce sports bottle with me at all times.

Here are nine reasons you should be drinking more water:

  1. Weight loss. Water is one of the best tools for weight loss. First of all, it often replaces high-calorie drinks like soda and alcohol with a drink that doesn’t have any calories. But it’s also a great appetite suppressant, and often when we think we’re hungry, we’re actually just thirsty. Water has no fat, no calories, no carbs, no sugar. Drink plenty to help your weight-loss regimen.
  2. Heart healthy. Drinking a good amount of water could lower your risks of a heart attack. A six-year study published in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that those who drink more than 5 glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses.
  3. Energy. Being dehydrated can sap your energy and make you feel tired — even mild dehydration of as little as 1 or 2 percent of your body weight. If you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated — and this can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and other symptoms.
  4. Headache cure. Another symptom of dehydration is headaches. In fact, often when we have headaches it’s simply a matter of not drinking enough water. There are lots of other causes of headaches of course, but dehydration is a common one.
  5. Healthy skin. Drinking water can clear up your skin and people often report a healthy glow after drinking water. It won’t happen overnight, of course, but just a week of drinking a healthy amount of water can have good effects on your skin.
  6. Digestive problems. Our digestive systems need a good amount of water to digest food properly. Often water can help cure stomach acid problems, and water along with fiber can cure constipation (often a result of dehydration).
  7. Cleansing. Water is used by the body to help flush out toxins and waste products from the body.
  8. Cancer risk. Related to the digestive system item above, drinking a healthy amount of water has also been found to reduce the risk of colon cancer by 45%. Drinking lots of water can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer by 50% and potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer.
  9. Better exercise. Being dehydrated can severely hamper your athletic activities, slowing you down and making it harder to lift weights. Exercise requires additional water, so be sure to hydrate before, during and after exercise.

Week 1 - progress report

Hi Everyone,

Last week, I decided to start a Blog and Twitter account to report my progress on my “Slimming Down” programme – I’m a woman on a mission – I made the decision to stop feeling sorry for myself and actually do something about it. I’m hoping that by me sharing my progress – up and downs – that I will encourage other women who too want to shed those extra pounds / kilos.

I’ve made good progress with setting up my blog and my twitter accounts …. but on the fitness side – not overly good. Managed to run 3 days this week – 2 miles – the target is to get to 5 miles, 6 times per week.

I managed to do only one training session with Gunnar Peterson – got his exercise DVD – for full body work-out on the swiss ball – so not very good on this front – I want to put in 5 exercise sessions per week on top of the running.

Diet – I believe that if you exercise regularly, as long as you’re not stupid – ie. burgers and chips every night with chocolate for snacks – you should be fine – but I suppose the true test is in the results….. so watch this space!!!!

Measurements – my husband said that if I want to really commit – I should put up my measurements, weight and pictures in my blog site - so that people can really see my progress – in for a penny, in for a pound. So I need to get that sorted. But just so you know what a sacrifice this is for me  -I hate stepping on scales – when I was a porky teenager my Dad would make me weigh myself – his way of making me face the facts – I was over weight!! Lovely – now you guys know why I have so much baggage!!!

Take care,
