2010.
That seems surreal to me. When I think of where I was in my life in 2000, I have come a long way in a decade. However, when I look at my life in 2009, I am surprised to notice a few things missing from it. My spirituality. My fitness. My intellectual pursuits. All have fallen by the wayside in the hectic flurry of changing jobs, changing cities, changing relationships. In the midst of all the change that 2009 saw, I somehow forgot to recreate those things in my life that are so important to me. On this New Year, I resolve the following things:
- Reach and maintain my ideal weight
- Journal 3 pages per day
- Blog once per month
- Meditate every day for at least 15 minutes
- Do something spiritual at least once a week
- Live my life in Pittsburgh – stop running away to other cities with every spare moment; build some relationships, friendships with people in Pittsburgh; do something new in this city at least once a month
- Meet new people
- Write more this year than last year
- Reduce my outstanding debts (pay off credit cards)
- Read at least one book a month
Days 1 and 2 of this year are going well. I am eating better, exercising, and being more frugal. Yesterday I journalled 3 pages, and I intend to do the same today. I meditated yesterday and intend to today as well. I’ve been reading more.
I resolve that this year will be different than the last on these things. I will make the effort; I will strive to progress on these things.
And so it is.
