I love Sydney in the Spring time ...

It’s Saturday morning, the sun is hiding behind the clouds, but it doesn’t look as if it is going to rain.  At least not yet.

We love walking – as you will know from previous posts – and so we set out for a leisurely stroll.  The temperature is warm, but comfortable.  We have our supply of water with us, and the sun starts to peep through the clouds – as if to say “I’ll come with you”.

We are fortunate to live so close to both the City and the coast.  We can walk to the beach in less than ten minutes – admittedly, down a very steep hill (it takes me about 25 minutes to walk back up!) – and we have discovered some very nice coastal walks, too.  It’s always a journey of discovery – the scenery seems to change each week and today, after a few showers, the vegetation has sprung back to life – the grass is green again, and so are the leaves on all the trees.  But best of all are the beautiful colours of the flowers.   The Jacaranda’s are out in full bloom - in fact, some are beginning to drop their flowers and the ground is covered in the most beautiful purple carpet.

As we walk along the coastal paths, there are beautiful butterflies fluttering around us;  the parrots and cockatoos are eating the fruit on the trees, and the kookaburra’s join together in a loud laugh!  We stop, and rest on a rock, perfectly formed as a seat, and watch the sail boats as they race on the harbour.  The sun has won it’s battle behind the clouds, and the smell of jasmine fills the air.  I take a deep breath.  It’s just glorious.

Off we set to complete our walk – a full circle back to our home – and we feel good.  Our walk has taken us up and down hills and steps and we feel we have made a solid contribution in our weight loss campaign!
