Addicted to Juicing

I started juicing fresh fruits and vegetables about a year ago – primarily because I was sick and having trouble swallowing.  I felt like I was choking on everything.  In an effort to get real nutrients from a liquid diet while I spent thousands of dollars and many hours with doctors, I turned to juicing fresh fruits and vegetables – at the recommendation of a fabulous book called You Are What You Eat: The Plan That Will Change Your Life.

Almost a year later, I am in much better health, I have lost 35 pounds, my skin is more radiant and I am now addicted to juicing (and smoothies).  The doctors were never able to find anything wrong with my throat after tons of tests.  I did have a cancer “scare” that resulted in surgery but that was not in the area of my throat.  I finally went to see an acupuncturist who advised that my inability to swallow was dues to extreme stress.  A few sessions with her helped me to be able to swallow again – thank goodness – however, I was already addicted to juicing at this point and I will never stop.

I did not start juicing to lose weight but that was a nice side effect.  Not only have I lost weight but my skin and muscles seem more toned – despite the fact that I don’t exercise regularly.  I am now a firm believer in the power of food and I intend to share my new pure food philosophy, recipes and information through my blogs.   We wouldn’t need so much healthcare in this country if we all took control of our own bodies and stop polluting them with processed foods!

I have found the key to better health to be improved digestion and a diet in fruits and vegetables.
